Students work on real-world problems at NYU summer STEM program

NYU Tandon’s ARISE program provides New York City high school students with free research opportunities inside NYU labs, where they work side-by-side with faculty and graduate students over seven weeks during the summer. “We want to make sure that [ARISE students] are that whole, well-rounded scientist who can communicate, who can write, who can act ethically in the work that they do, and who are focused particularly… on that authentic research idea, which is solving problems that are real-world problems,” said Ben Esner, director of the Center for K12 STEM Education at NYU Tandon.
