$15 million US DOT grant to NYU supports smart transportation policy efforts

NYU Tandon’s C2SMART Center received $10 million from the U.S. Department of Transportation, along with $5 million in non-federal matching funds, to continue its work as a Tier 1 university transportation center, leading a consortium of universities that will address the U.S. DOT’s priority for reducing traffic congestion. “We encourage [the consortium participants] to work with their own local department of transportation in their cities,” said C2SMART’s Founding Director Kaan Ozbay, pointing out that a research project in one city can be adapted to another.
