A team of NYU Tandon researchers lead by Institute Professor Maurizio Porfiri (mechanical & aerospace; biomedical; civil,and urban engineering; and Center for Urban Science and Progress) has developed a simulated version of New Rochelle, New York, in order to study how different policies for distribution of the COVID vaccine and public safety affect spread of the virus.
Their research has found that the current method, which targets "at-risk communities" first, may not be the most effective way for the vaccine to be applied.
