Early Career Assistance

One of the benefits of NYU Tandon is the ability to tap into the powerful NYU network via the NYU Wasserman Center for Career Development, and access specialized tech, science, and engineering opportunities via the NYU Tandon Office of Career Services

One of those specialized opportunities is the Tandon Graduate Summer Academy, offered free in June and July. This summer learning experience for prospective NYU Tandon graduate students provides an overview of the current employment landscape in the U.S. and how to prepare as a graduate student.

Incoming graduate students can register on the Career Services Website. An in-depth and interactive job/internship search bootcamp is also offered to enrolled graduate students in the fall.

A Free Jumpstart on Your Masters

Admitted students have the opportunity to apply to become a Tandon Summer Scholar and take a summer class within their MS program remotely — completely free of charge. The 3-credit course includes a final exam or project upon arrival in-person for the fall semester, at which time students will receive course credit as part of their Fall 2021 semester course load.* Taking the course this summer doesn’t just save up to $6,000 on students' education; it frees up valuable time in the fall to get to know the campus, the city, and fellow classmates and to pursue other interests and career opportunities sooner.

Apply now — applications are due April 1st.

*Tandon Summer Scholars is open to on-campus, full-time students admitted to participating on-campus masters programs only. Prospective FRE students have access to alternative non-credit summer experiences.

NYU Tandon Made Challenge

The NYU Tandon Made Challenge is a chance for teams of incoming NYU Tandon students to focus their immense talents on solving pressing societal challenges and potentially see their solutions brought to market.

The series of entrepreneurial challenges will take place throughout the summer, with each focusing on a different challenge and running for 2 weeks. Interested students can attend virtual events at the start of each challenge to get help forming teams and get more information about the challenge topics, best practices, and expert insight.

Winners receive access to a wide variety of resources, including access to a $5,000 price pool, along with mentorship, and guidance to help convert their inventions from projects into prototypes that can be validated in the market and start-up companies that can be funded and scaled.

The topics and dates for the 2021 challenges are still being finalized. In the meantime, you can visit NYU Tandon Made Challenge to learn more about the last year's challenges and winning teams.

Virtual Receptions and Networking

You can access a series of virtual experiences throughout April and May, designed to provide valuable information and interactions to incoming graduate students who are unable to visit campus in person. Virtual events will give you the chance to speak with faculty, student affairs specialists, career center advisors, and current students, and build relationships with your fellow incoming classmates.
